2017 – There is something pure about black lines on a white surface and the immediacy and clarity of what those marks convey. These ink drawings were used to inform Speed Boat and Sunrise and to move them into gouache form.
The beauty about ink is that it is like a stop on the underground where you can get off and leave it there, where the artistic journey is complete. Or you can change lines and take it in a different direction.
