2017 – There is another incarnation of this sketch out there which shows the bay to the right of the villa. A variation on a theme.

Despite the versions, and different renditions with different media, I was still nonplussed with the way I actually captured the sun, and its rising. You can compare results with the gouache and oil versions of this painting. Sunrises may look easy but they are difficult to paint.
