2017 – This sketch provides an example of how an idea or concept is developed. Same basic image but if you compare this to the gouache version of Speed Boat you can see where refinements, improvements or changes have been made.

In this version, the speed boat – which gives the work its name – is not there and was added later at the gouache stage.
