Oils

All of the works on this page were painted from 2017 onwards. It took from June 2016 until late Autumn the following year before I began using oil again.

I was given an oil painting kit when I was 13. “Here you are, Dave,” my Dad said, “Have a go.” It was, looking back, a Sunday painter’s outfit – wooden easel, lacquered paint box, palette knives, linseed oil an so forth. This was a formative experience where I was left alone in a non-judgemental environment to make mistakes.

Oil was the first medium I engaged with and I largely learned and figured it out on my own.
