ACRYLIC

Up until 2022, acrylic was not a medium I have chosen to use, but having acquired a set of them I wanted to explore their potential. Not as a quick drying substitute for oil paint, but rather as a diluted dye. The idea of being able to “jazz up” a pen and ink sketch with colour appealed to me. I have, obviously, seen work by Duffy and Chagall and so I thought I would give it a go and try it myself. The idea, in part, was the notion of being able to create work quickly – with the thought of being able to paint a picture a day. The other aim was to lend a looser feel to the work and to have deeper, yet more translucent tone that watercolour – for me – does not provide. I hope to be able to expand upon the body of art in this section. And, as a recent development in my armoury of technique, I hope to both experiment and improve my handling of the pen-acrylic medium.
